San Angelo forecasters identify the higher concern Thursday afternoon through Friday morning mainly west of a line from Sonora through San Angelo to Sweetwater. The El Paso office expects rain to arrive Thursday evening and continue into the weekend in portions of its forecast area.
Localized flooding can develop where storms repeatedly cross the same area, even when the broader region needs rainfall. Forecasters are still refining where the heaviest precipitation will set up.
Residents and travelers should consult the latest NWS warnings and road conditions as the event approaches.
