The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi says persistent onshore flow, elevated swell periods and astronomical tides are contributing to minor coastal flooding during high tides through the weekend.

The office also reports an increased rip-current risk. These hazards are separate from the rain and thunderstorm potential expected inland as moisture associated with the remnants of Pacific Tropical Storm Vance moves toward South Texas.

Minor coastal flooding can affect low-lying roads and shoreline access, while rip currents can endanger swimmers even when the sky looks relatively calm. Actual conditions vary by beach and tide cycle.

The forecast discussion anticipates improving rain conditions by Halloween evening, but beachgoers should check current local advisories and surf-zone forecasts before entering the water.
